Yes For all language programs, students will receive a CCE Certificate of Completion upon the successful completion of 240 hours of beginner classes, labs, and exams. For the intermediate and advanced level, students must successfully
complete 120 hours of classes, labs and exams.

A career as an early childhood assistant can be rewarding and exciting. Under the supervision of early childhood educators, early childhood assistants provide care and guidance to preschool children at a formative period of their lives. Early childhood assistants help to lead preschool children in activities to stimulate and develop their intellectual, physical and emotional growth.

Early Child care education

Early childhood assistants can work as:
   - Early Childcare Program Staff
   - Child Care Worker Assistant
   - Day Care Helper
   - Early Childcare Educator Assistant
   - Preschool Helper

Typical employers of early childhood assistants are:
   - Municipal governments
   - Day care centres
   - Nursery schools
   - Non-institutional social services organizations
   - Elementary schools
   - Personal and household service firms
   - Private households

Early childCareassistants perform some or all of the following duties:
   - Conduct and monitor programs designed for young
     children
   - Lead children in activities by telling stories, teaching
     songs and preparing craft materials
   - Prepare and serve snacks
   - Arrange rooms and furniture for lunch and rest periods
   - Assist with proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
   - Submit written observations on children to supervisor
   - Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems
     of children
   - Assist supervisor in keeping records
   - Maintain day care equipment and assist in housekeeping
     duties

Students in the Early ChildCare Assistants Program will have the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in:


  - Introduction to Prenatal Development
  - Introduction to Infant Development
  - Introduction to Toddler Development
  - Introduction to Preschool Development
  - Health, Safety and Nutrition
  - Guiding Children’s Behaviour
  - Computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel and Access)
  - Communications
 
All of the above topics are covered in the textbook.
  - Practicum (It is recommended that students complete
    a practicum in a suitable and related organization.)

Format of Program
Students will learn the theoretical aspects of being an Early Childcare Assistant (ECA) through review and study of their textbook(s). Upon successful completion of the theoretical section, students will then work on the technical and practical section.
 
After applying for the Early Childcare Assistant Certificate (ECAC) Program, our advisors will then advise students on how to obtain a police check for vulnerable sector screening, as well as First Aid and CPR certifications.
