All Spanish group courses are available at $7 per hour.

SPANISH
Course Descriptions
Beginner Spanish I
Elementary Spanish gives students a basic understanding of Spanish through instruction in listening, speaking, reading and writing. The course also provides an understanding of the civilization, culture, and customs of Spanish-speaking peoples. This course is designed for beginner speakers of Spanish. A minimum of five hours of additional work in the language laboratory is required per term.
Beginner Spanish II
This course continues the introduction of the grammatical structures in an attempt to provide students with a basic understanding of and ability to use the language. In addition to the emphasis on language skills, the course furthers the studies of the civilization, culture, and customs of Spanish-speaking peoples. A minimum of five hours of additional work in the language laboratory is required per term.
Conversational Spanish I
This is a beginner course which emphasizes oral communication in a variety of topics at a basic level. It covers only the grammar and structures absolutely necessary for speaking. The course is intended for students taking the Beginner Spanish I language program. Additional work in the language laboratory is required per term.
Intermediate Spanish I
This course furthers studies in Spanish through a review of the fundamentals of structure, and by emphasizing oral reading comprehension and self-expression in both speaking and writing.
This course also expands students' understanding of the civilization, culture, and customs of Spanish-speaking peoples. Additional work in the language laboratory is required per term.
Intermediate Spanish II
This course, a continuation of Intermediate Spanish I, emphasizes the fundamentals of structure in written and oral communications. Readings provides students with a panoramic view of the literature and culture of Spanish-speaking peoples. Several hours of additional work in the language laboratory are required per term.
Conversational Spanish II
The purpose of this course is to further the students' conversational skills in Spanish. In addition to introducing new vocabulary, the past tense and other useful grammatical points will be covered. As in the first course, there will be great emphasis on developing the students' speaking ability. Students will create their own dialogues on specified topics and will be responsible for several readings and several short compositions. Several hours of additional work in the language laboratory are required per term.
