Medical English

This highly interactive, specialist course, aims to provide the student with a sufficient level of Medical English terminology to help develop the communication skills required to converse with English speaking doctors and patients.

This condensed 48 hour four week afternoon/evening/ course covers a broad range of topics which include:

  • Communication in Medical environments, hospital, clinics, homecare,
  • Medical vocabulary, terminology, and Idioms
  • Role-play
  • Doctor Patient relationships
  • Nurse Patient relationships
  • doctor-patient role-plays (history-taking, instruction and explanation);
  • preparation and presentation of short talks
  • writing up and presenting cases;
  • Understanding medical reports and case studies
  • Medical abbreviations

Using study material from leading North American Universities and medical institutes, this programme is carefully compiled from specialist medical resources, current case studies, topical reports and journals.

In order to apply for this course, students should already have a basic to intermediate knowledge of English. Students who do not have the necessary level of English are advised to enrol in an additional General English refresher course.

The Medical English course can be taken as a stand alone course or combined with the General English program during or prior to the start of the course.

Upon completing the course the attendants will receive a certificate of achievement from Canada College of Education.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday or Tuesday and Thursday.
